In this, the premier issue of the Craftsman’s Corner, I have chosen to highlight the custom pens of Mike Parsons.

Since enlisting in the Army at the age of 18, it has always been my custom to have an “ink pen” on my person at all times. When you think about the accoutrements that should be a part of everyman’s belongings, a good pen has to be at the top of the list. A functional and attractive pen is a great masculine accessory.

Mike offers six different pen styles, however most of his sales are made up of three styles. The style featured here is appropriately the Cigar. These pens are bold and thick in reflection of their namesake. The Cigar pens take the easily replaceable Parker style refill. Mike’s creations range in price from $40-$100 depending on style, hardware, and material. Material choices include wood, micarta, and acrylic. The pens are turned and finished on a Jet lathe.

My current collection of Mike’s pens includes those pictured. The difference in hardware and color allow me to choose the same familiar feeling pen for anything from a day on the range to a night out.

If you are looking to treat yourself or for a great gift idea, Mike can be contacted at Cutiger27@ATT.net.
