Gran Habano Connecticut #1 Review
By: GF John
Introduction:
After smoking my first Connecticut wrapped cigar a few weeks back, I have really taken a liking to the milder nature and light flavors of this cigar. Today I smoked a Gran Habano Connecticut #1, and it was a great smoke. I hope you all enjoy the review.

Hard Stats:
Wrapper: Connecticut
Binder: Habano, Nicaragua
Filler: Habano, Nicaragua
Body: Light/Medium
Size: 5” X 50
Construction:
The cigar was capped by a perfectly executed triple cap Connecticut shade leaf. The quality and skill put into this cigar showed through from stem to stern. The leaf was very delicate with light veining, which of course is a Connecticut leaf characteristic. I could find no imperfections. Construction was firm throughout, and the Connecticut #1 sported a very handsome raised gold lettering over a white background, with the Gran Habano crest. A+ overall.
Draw/Burn:
One thing I despise in a cigar is a tight draw. Gran Habano realizes most cigar smokers feel the same way, so they draw test every cigar before finishing to ensure the draw is perfect and stayed that way until the nub was burning my fingers. Well, it worked. The draw on this cigar was perfect. Nuff said there. The burn was also excellent with an even laser cut edge and a nice sturdy white ash. The Connecticut #1 returned a nice creamy thick smoke that was very nice. Again, A+ on all counts.
Taste:
Right away the #1 started out with a distinct sweetness with some vanilla and light almond flavor, all delivered with a smooth character. All of these flavors continued until the last quarter of the smoke when the flavors got a bit more intense with a medium tobacco and cedar finish. All in all I found the flavors of this cigar to be just enough to please but not overpower the smoker. I had a good dark German beer with this smoke and the caramel of the beer went well with the sweetness of this cigar. A+ again.

Summary:
I have to say that this one an excellent cigar. I do not always feel like getting knocked on my ass by a double maduro or a corojo powerhouse, and in these instances I think a cigar like this will fill that mood very well. I would suggest this cigar for the experienced smoker and neophyte alike. It truly has something for everyone. I have no cons to write about here as this was a great experience that really made my afternoon smoke a great experience. Try one, you won’t be sorry.
Score: 8.2 out of 10.

5 vegas Classic Fifty Five Review
5 Vegas Classic Fifty Five
By: GF John
Intro:
I am quickly becoming a 5 Vegas fan. SO far every one of these gems I have smoked have been very good. Today I decided to light up the 5 Vegas Classic “Fifty Five” and wow it was another home run for 5 Vegas that I smoked down to a smoldering nub. I hope you all enjoy this review and happy puffing all.

Hard Stats:
Wrapper: Sumatra
Binder: Nicaraguan
Filler: Cuban-seed Nicaraguan & Cuban-seed Dominican
Origin: Nicaragua
Body: Medium
Size: 5.5” x 55 ring.

Construction:
Excellent construction on the 55. There was some light veining throughout and the wrapper has a very pleasing light to medium brown Sumatran wrapper. Very nice. The feel was firm overall and was very well made. Box press, and a nice well made triple cap. A+

Draw/Burn:
One thing that has been universal and very well appreciated with all of the 5 Vegas cigars I have enjoyed so far is a perfect draw. The 5 Vegas 55 was no exception. Burn was also very good and even throughout the smoke, but it did need a couple of relights after the ash was shed, but it wasn’t anything too troublesome. The 55 put out some very nice creamy thick white smoke as well.

Taste: The 55 had a nice peppery start, which quickly gave way to some very distinct leather, nut, spice, nutmeg, all delivered with an undertone of caramel, but just slightly. There was also a meaty quality to the flavor and an overall mellowness that would make this a great daily smoke.
Summary:
If you like a cigar with no unpleasant surprises and an even delivery of a good mix of some very distinct flavors, try the 5 Vegas 55. I thought that this made a very good smoke for a warm summer day sipping a Sam Adams Summer Ale or a similar beer. Maybe an IPA. I really liked this cigar and I hope you all will to. Thanks.
