Review Written by: John Pizzurro
Intro:
Fans of MROL will no doubt understand that we appreciate and highly value true manhood and all that goes into being a real man in every sense of the word. So, when I came across the book that will likely go down as one of the most important collection of words ever printed, I knew a review had to be forthcoming. Wilser gets it. He has distilled manhood, its maxims, and humor into a page turner that is not only easy to read and informative, it will have you chuckling to yourself as you sit on the bowl enjoying your quiet time.
Maxims of Manhood is broken down into ten main parts with ten maxims per part with grand total of 100 maxims in all. If this seems like a daunting number of maxims to remember, don’t worry, if you are doing things correctly, most of what is written in this book will come naturally and you would have been doing most of it already. If there are a few maxims you were unaware of and not incorporating into your life its ok. In fact it even happened to me.
Statistics:
1. Soft cover.
2. 224 pages.
3. $14.95
Maxims of Manhood Breakdown:
Part I: General Behavior
Part II: Sports
Part III: Women
Part IV: Health and Food
Part V: Style
Part VI: Work
Part VII: Entertainment
Part VIII: Buddies
Part IX: Women Revisited
Part X: And Don’t Forget…
Author:
Jeff Wilser is an author by trade, and a visionary by the grace of god. He is also a former Marine Reserves squad leader, and a contributing writer to several major websites, such as VH1, GQ, and MTV. He lives in NYC.
Wrap Up.
Wilser covers it all in this book, and even though it is found in the humor section of the bookstore, you will find it chock full of insightful and seriously thought provoking introspective triggers that will have you questioning yourself for real. For example, Wilser touches on the ever contentious subject of the man hug, or as he calls it, the Bro-Hug, in Part XIII, Maxim #76, “Master The Bro-Hug.” Or in Part V, where Wilser tackles a disturbing trend that is near and dear to my heart, Maxim #41 “No Man Makeup.” These are only a mere two examples of the 100 maxims contained in this great book, all delivered in a format that is easy to read. You can pick this book up and just start reading from any random point you choose.
Buy this book! Buy it for yourself and your closest bro. Buy if for your son; buy it for your nephew. Basically…buy it for any man, or future man so that we can ensure the safety and survival of the classic American man before he becomes a thing of the past. Don’t pass up the opportunity to read a book that is funny, informative, thought provoking, readable, and most of all, fun. Hats off to you Jeff Wilser, well done man.
